Did you know? Most swimsuits are made from plastic. The two most popular kind of fabrics used to make swimsuits are polyester and nylon – both of which happen to be plastic, which will not biodegrade and requires us to keep drilling for more and more petroleum. As offshore drilling projects increase, we’ll just have less pristine oceans to enjoy.
What does it mean?!
Undersea Bikinis are made with ECONYL® 100% regenerated nylon from discarded fishing nets and other nylon waste from the bottom of the oceans. Each year, thousands of tons of waste is rescued around the world and brought to a treatment centre where nylon waste is processed and transformed into textile yarns using the least water and energy possible. Afterwards, it is transformed into a high quality, eco-friendly fabric, that is:
- Ultra-Chlorine Resistant
- Resistant to suntan creams and oils
- Ensuring 50+ UV protection factor
- Soft and smooth
- More durable, long lasting and resistant than standard nylon
Besides all of these they are infinitely recyclable as well!
To produce 10.000 tons of Econyl (eco-nylon) we can save 70.000 barrel of oil and 57.000 tons of CO2 emissions.
In this way we are not increasing demand for new plastic and are helping to give new life and value to what otherwise would just be trash.
“A perfect swimwear not only looks and feels good but is eco-friendly too.”
We believe that being sustainable means that every single step of the process from design to delivery is done with you (the customer) and planet in mind!
You can not sell a recycled bikini in a plastic package! What‘s the point then?!
If you’re on a hunt for a new sustainable swimwear, there are a number of things that you should consider before you hit that “ PURCHASE NOW ” button.
What is it made of?
There are several bikini brands who are identifying themselves sustainable, however, just a small part of their collection is ethical. Every time you put an item in your basket, check in the product info if that bikini is really recycled and what it is made of!
No need to worry if you are surfing on our website as all of our bikinis are made from recycled materials! Whatever you choose to get, it won’t make you disappointed.
Where was it made?
Unfortunately, many swimsuits are made overseas in rural and poor areas as it’s much cheaper and more work gets done.
We are proud of our commitment to supporting local businesses. Choosing to manufacture in Szolnok, Hungary with local dressmakers allows us to work intimately with a manufacturing team that understands and supports our mission.
How does it packaged?
You might miss on that little detail; however, it is also very important if you are looking for a sustainable swimwear.
Usually eco swimwear brands notify you on their website or on their social media platforms how your package will be delivered.
Undersea Bikini makes your shopping a 100% ethical experience! Staying true to our values, all of our packages are made of recycled and sustainably sourced materials. Our hangtags are made from seed papers, that means you can plant it in your garden and watch it grow!
What do you support?
At last but not least, it is good to know what do you support by your purchase.
Safe to say, any sustainable brand is doing a great job and you are gonna support a great cause, no matter who do you choose, however, you won‘t lose anything if you quickly check up on the company‘s philosophy.
We are very happy to see that there are more and more green brands who are supporting different non-profit organizations from their profit. Just like Undersea Bikini.
Charity is one of the best ways to help such people, animals or the environment, especially if it comes with your order! You don’t need to spend extra money, once you purchase your Undersea Bikini, you already donated a great cause!
Every babe out there needs a bikini or two in their life, so why wouldn’t you choose a sustainable one that is infinitely recyclable?!
There is already enough trash in the oceans and on landfills, it‘s time to clean up our mess!
Are you ready to join our mission and save the world in your new Undersea Bikini?!
