HI BABES, IT‘S MÓNI

Hi Babes,

It‘s me, Móni!

As many of you asked us to show more “behind the scenes” details, we have decided to run a Backstage Series, which is about to involve you a bit more in our life. We hope this series will be interesting enough and you will have the chance to get to know us and the life of Undersea Bikini better.

In the first episode, we would like to introduce ourselves a bit.

It’s 6 AM right now and I’m flying to Fuerteventura to meet Dézi. I am feeling a bit tired but also excited as we’re going to shoot some really fun content for you guys! As I’m in the air, finally I have nothing else to do but write my introduction and share my story with you.

I was born (1991) and raised in Hungary and this is also where I live at the moment. However, I’m always on the way travelling somewhere, doing something….never stay in one place for too long. Nowadays it’s mostly because of work, but it hasn’t always been like this.

My childhood was very nice as my family was really loving and we were very close. My parents had their own company and they worked really hard showing me and my sister a great example of work ethic. They tought me how to handle money, how to manage a business, how to be a great team player and how to treat people with respect. I have always dreamed of owning a business and follow my parents footsteps one day. In our free time, we have spent a lot of time and travelled a lot together…This is how my passion for traveling started. For me, there is still nothing like jetting off into the sky to someplace new. I‘m a big believer that travel really shapes who you are and who you will become. The places you see, the people you meet can easily change how you see the world. It kind of opens up your mind.

Skip forward to my 14th year and a tragedy happened that changed my life completely. I lost my father. It felt like my life suddenly had fallen apart and I was caught up in a whirlwind. At first, it seemed like I was stuck in a dream, and everything that has been going on wasn‘t really happening. Your parents care for you from the moment you enter this world, they nurture you and show you the way. So when you find yourself without one of your parents, you immediately feel lost. When I had bad periods in my young ages, hard times sometimes, I’ve really needed to ask my dad‘s advice. When life has been tough, I’ve needed his strength and his guidance. I thought that nobody would understand what I was going through so at that time it was really difficult to let people close to me.

A few years later I turned 18 and still had no idea what I was doing with my life, where I was going to or who I really was. I left home and moved to Budapest to study Finance and Accountancy. I truly hated it, but couldn’t think of anything else to do so I kind of went with the flow. I finished school and got my degree, however I was 100% sure that it wasn’t for me. I stood there without any future plans and this is when a new chapter has started: the chapter of finding myself again.

I have started to read tons of psychology books and work on myself. I fell in love with this science very quickly, so I decided to enroll at a University again and study Psychology. This time, I really enjoyed school and what I was learning. This is also when I started to travel a lot again which definitely awakened my spiritual self. I ended up reading a lot about how nature as a system works, how animals live, feel and think, about space, about the universe, about life itself. My travels had been transformed into educational trips where I could watch and study animal behavior, meet species I had never seen before, learn about the stars, etc.

I started to take diving lessons so I could explore the ocean as well, at the end it became one of my biggest passions. The feeling of weightlessness is something like being in space and the sheer tranquility of the experience is indescribable. I found myself feeling the best version of myself when I was surrounded by nature and nothing else.

Just when I thought I had seen it all, I realized how little I actually know about this planet. There is always more to learn when it comes to the natural world. Mother Nature give us so much, but I quickly realized that we don’t really give it back, do we?! I had so many horrible experiences with plastic pollution during my trips that it started to bother me very much. I wanted to do my part, but for a long time I didn’t know how to do it. Of course I made many changes on my personal level but I’ve always felt like it is not enough. I also wanted to influence others to see the same and feel the same.

In 2017, a lot happened. This is when I got married to the love of my life and also established Undersea Bikini which gave us the perfect opportunity to share our vision of how to make a difference. At first, I was very hesitant because I had no experience at all – only what I had learnt from my parents – but with the support of my husband and best friend (Dézi), I finally had the courage to start my own business.

Today, my job is my passion and feel like I’m living the life I was always meant to be.

xx
