10 FACTS THAT YOU DON‘T KNOW ABOUT UNDERSEA BIKINI

Everybody loves secrets, right? We have decided to share 10 interesting facts about Undersea Bikini that we’ve never talked about before.

1. BRAND NAME

Believe it or not, giving a name to our brand was not the first thing we did when we started our business, especially because we found it very difficult to find the perfect one that sounds cool, fits to our style and has a meaning at the same time. We spent months to figure out how should we name our brand. We had hundreds of ideas but somehow none of them was the right one. After a long time of thinking we finally made a decision and named our bikini label as Seven Seas Bikini. We were very happy with it so we continued to work with this name. We made our logo, created our website, made all the designs, slogens and so on, and so on. However, when we got to the point to trademark our logo and the name, it didn’t go through the process as it was a geographical domination. Actually, we could have just sticked to the name and keep going, but in an official way it wouldn’t have been ours, so we decided to leave it (even tho we were going to lose time and money) and figure something new out that is even better, and we can put a trademark on it. This is how we ended up with the name of Undersea Bikini.

2. LATE LAUNCH

Our plan was launching the brand in 2018 March, but we had some technical issues with  the website that completely balked our plan. Just before the launch date, we had to build our page up from zero. Thanks to the technology, we could only publish our first collection in the end of May.

3. LOST INSTAGRAM PROFILE

When our business was close to publish, we‘ve created an Instagram profile with the name @underseabikini. It was already running, we had around 100 followers, then from a day to another… the profile was suddenly gone. Until now, we haven’t figured out how and why it disappeared, but doubtless, it happened at the worst moment and we needed to create another one. That’s why we use now the underline in our instagram profile.

4. HOME STUDIO

No, we don’t produce our bikinis in a big factory in China, not even in a small factory in Europe. Undersea Bikinis are made in a small town in Hungary by 3 ladies in a home studio.

5. LAST MINUTE BRAZILIAN

When we started to design our bikinis, we didn’t plan to make regular bottoms, as we wanted to fill the niche market with high standard thong bottoms that everybody can wear without shame. In the last minute though, we decided to make a Brazilian shape as well for those who would like to cover a bit more. That’s why we don’t have many pictures of them, as the decision was made after our campaign shooting.

6. STORAGE ROOM

We don’t rent a storage in Budapest, instead we store all the bikinis in the old room of Moni, where she grew up. Her mother helps us to tag and send the bikinis to our beloved customers.

7. STUDIO PHOTOS

All of the product pictures that appear in our webstore were taken in a studio except the BALI SEA, which was shot in Moni‘s house in front of a white wall, as we failed to do it in the studio for the first time.

 8. CHARITY PROGRAM

Our first idea about the charity program was giving donation after every single bikini we sell, but after some financial calculation we had to face the fact that we are not big enough (YET!) to give away as much from our income 🙁 However, this is our future plan!

9. LIVING IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

As you may know, Undersea Bikini is running by us, Móni and Dézi, two friends from Hungary. However, we don’t live at the same place. I (Dézi) live in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) and Móni lives in Budapest, so we manage everything from two different countries. This means millions of phone calls and billions of messages.

10. VIDEOS? NO, THANKS

Oh, gosh… You have no idea how much we hate to appear in videos or any kind of social media performance. Some pictures are alright, but turn the camera on, start to talk and make vlogs or Instagram stories is a big NO from both of us. Not because it’s a bad thing, it is just because we feel super uncomfortable in front of the camera. We wish it was different and we could get in contact with you in a more personal way, but at the moment we prefer to stay behind the scenes and let you enjoy the results of our work!

We hope you enjoyed reading our little fails and secrets about the brand, stay with us and take care of the Planet! 🙂
